Barons was founded in September, 1998 as a specialist classic and collector’s car auction house. It holds its regular sales at Sandown Park Race Course, Esher, Surrey.
The company operates broadly in the mainstream of the classics market, often with a selection of late-era prestige cars offered alongside classics, as well as some entertaining rarities and curios.
Auction house founder Laurence Sayers-Gillan is a former Jaguar racer and, even though he is now retired, his interest and involvement with the marque is often reflected by strong Jaguar representation in the catalogues. Barons is now run by Peter Gasciogne and Tony Cavell.
The company runs seven sales a year at regular intervals. All sold vehicles are put through an HPI Equifax Vehicle Data Check to see if they have been listed as stolen or have outstanding finance owed. Any vehicle discovered to have an undisclosed history in relation to these areas can be rejected by the buyer at the seller’s expense.
